For centuries, pineapples were a symbol of hospitality. Back in the day, if you rocked up to someone’s house and they handed you a pineapple, it meant you were kind of a big deal. A rare, exotic, spiky little trophy of generosity.

In the 1700s, you did not just eat a pineapple. You rented it. People would carry them around at parties just to flex. Some even built them into their architecture (look up the Dunmore Pineapple in Scotland – yes, it is a real thing 🤣).
